What do you mean
by Trust2Connect?

Trust2Connect means that we naturally join in with people we trust, but hold back without trust.

It’s pretty simple, really. Our DNA programs us to connect in relationships with other people, so we can all accomplish and contribute more. As a reflection of our humanity these are aspirational behaviors welcomed by all.

Different behaviors are like different facial expressions in the way that they communicate to others. Most of the time we aren’t thinking about what our behavior is saying, and too often that means we’re damaging trust rather than building trust.

The Behavior Matrix provides an easy way to mitigate that downside and build healthy trust into all of our relationships.

A few years ago Trust2Connect completed a meta-study on how we like to be treated by other people. Through that process, we identified…

  • 6 categories of behavior that we expect from others.
  • 6 ways to support those expectations
  • 6 behavioral statements expressing positive outcomes within each of the 6 categories

None of this needs to be written down or committed to memory, because they all make perfect gut sense. In other words, they exist as part of our human nature, hard coded in our DNA. An awareness of them, and discussing them with other people is all that’s needed to keep them top of mind.

This collection of 36 different statements creates the opportunity to collect insightful data.

Hello, and welcome!

If I were you, I’d be more than a little curious about who’s behind Future Redesign. After all, it makes some pretty bold promises. We can talk more about that later, but for now, just let me say that Future Redesign neatly wraps up 50 years of experience, so it’s well-vetted!

As for me personally, just living means designing. I use design like a computer uses its operating system. It slices through the chaos to simplify and direct nearly everything I do.

I’ve successfully applied the same principles to graphics, branding, photography, marketing, software, communications, coaching, community building and mentoring. There’s also no better approach to change management, learning, and behavior change.

I’m a multi-disciplined designer with more than five decades of experience. 

While in the Architecture College at the University of Nebraska, a number of us were keen on applying our design skills outside of architecture. We tested ourselves at things like graphic design, screen printing, photography, and writing. I even spent a year teaching design as an undergraduate. Helping other people learn, I discovered, is one of the best learning experiences you can have.

Looking back, it almost seems like I went a little overboard. But immersing myself in a broader understanding of design literally multiplied the value of my education. It also set me up for many more future opportunities.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the good fortune to partner with impressive organizations like the ones below. And in every case, it was the people—and working deliberately to create high-trust relationships—that resulted in our remarkable successes, working together.
